Darrell Hayden conducts his masterclasses at clients’ offices over the course of one day with five participants. Attendees are required to bring:
- A prepared three-minute presentation in any medium
- Willingness to participate and learn
Darrell’s approach is getting to know each participant—their challenges and their strengths—and removing impediments to their success through the repetition of practical exercises. The day includes one-on-one meetings as well as group work. Specific areas of work can include, but are not limited to:
- Importance of preparation
- Engaging the audience
- Brevity
- Nervousness verses fear
- Audience empathy
- Why, not just what
- Appropriate use of notes
- Effective closings
- Thinking on your feet
The masterclass atmosphere is fast-paced, interactive and supportive, and is tailored to each participant’s specific needs. By the end of the day everyone will have a practical and specific understanding and appreciation for what makes them more effective presenters. Following the workshop Darrell emails each attendee a short list of specific things to work on to help ensure ongoing improvement.
